Diary of Ghost at School (Gakkou no Kaidan/学校の怪談) Part Two

Episode 6 :

Babasare : a ghost who manifests by taking advantage of children’s fears. Wo don’t believe in ghosts in the first place, can’t see it. In other words, if you don’t get scared, it won’t appear. Conversely, if you think it’s scary, it will just keep coming back.

“December 8. During the town assembly’s retreat, one person, Miyo, was home alone when Babasare showed up. I came running and chanted ‘Old hag, begone!’ three times and put it to spiritual sleep in a Shinto Shirine.”

Episode 7 :

Utsushimi : “How to put Utsusimi to spiritual sleep : to create a barrier by pointing a mirror toward another, large miror.”

It’s been believed that mirrors facing each other are portals to the demon world. If we open a door to the demon world, we can summon back the people wo are trapped inside the mirrors.

Episode 8 :

“February 7. Townspeople continue to be suddenly spirited away. Tis must be the doing of a demon from the Road of the Underworld. It lures those who have become lost onto the Road, then takes them to the River Sanzu. To make it back alive from the Road of te Underworld, hold up the talisman and chant that you want to go home.”

I decided to take this talisman, use the school’s mimeograph to duplicate it and then post them in places where a person is likely to get lost.

Episode 9 :

“Doll resurrects the dead. You chant the spell as you bury it in the grave. However, that which is resurrected will go berserk. To put it into spiritual sleep we need the cooperating of the person who did the resurrecting.”

Episode 10 :

Anamaneki : the ghosts of those who die in tunnels. They’re unbearably lonely. They’ve been trapped in a dark, damp hole for a long time. They drag humans into the tunnel because they want company.

“That day, I tried to put the Anamaneki of the Mamiana Tunnel to spiritual sleep, but the regrets tying the ghost to the living world were so strong, I was drawn in by its bitterness and barely escaped before I was dragged completely in. For now, all I can do is to not get close to that tunnel.”
